This collection of stories about Grey-Bruce people and their pets is a reminder of the importance of the animals in our lives. From wonder dogs to unusual pet goats to remarkable felines and even a cross-country riding camel, each of the stories describes the life-altering human-animal bond.
In her Foreword, world-renowned cartoonist Lynn Johnston describes Farley, her cartoon dog named after Farley Mowat, and her real-life couch dog, Willy: “Both were equally real to me. Both were an essential part of my day. That’s the way pets are. They play a big role. They listen, they console, they accompany and they live. They are part of our family and part of our heart. That’s why they stay with us long after their physical presence is gone.”
Proceeds from the sale of Pawprints on the Heart go to the Farley Foundation, named after Farley the English Sheepdog who appeared in Lynn’s For Better or For Worse® comic strip. The Farley Foundation makes it possible for those who struggle financially to pay for the veterinary care to continue their relationships with the pets that mean the world to them.
