The Ginger Press has been publishing books about Owen Sound and the surrounding area since 1987. As a small company, we have deliberately concentrated on local writers and artists who have demonstrated the potential to inform, challenge and entertain a larger audience. Our publishing house, located in downtown Owen Sound, focuses on books which explore unique elements of historical, natural, cultural and contemporary aspects of life in the Grey-Bruce community. This regional emphasis does not limit our audience, but extends it to include enthusiastic readers, booksellers, librarians and reviewers from across Canada and the world.

Did you know The Ginger Press also publishes magazines? Check out Grey Bruce MOSAIC here and The Owen Sounder here.

Local Bookshop

The Ginger Press Bookshop started in 1978 as a mail-order business specializing in books about woodworking. Since then we have outgrown two locations to arrive in 1984 at our spacious home in beautiful downtown Owen Sound. The Bookshop features a wide range of cookbooks, children’s books, poetry, fiction, nature guides, and more. Our particular focus is books with a connection to our region–the Grey/Bruce region on the shores of Georgian Bay just a short distance from the remarkable ecosystem of the Bruce Peninsula.

We are located at: 848 Second Avenue East in Owen Sound, Ontario. Click here for directions.

The Ginger Press is an exuberant centre in a thriving literary and creative community. Readers and writers gather in this comfortable environment to exchange ideas, discuss their latest projects and connect over books.
